WELCOME TO THE PRIORY BENEFICE!

Parishes of St Luke’s, Grimethorpe with St Paul’s, Brierley; All Saints, South Kirkby and St James the Great, Ryhill, Havercroft with Cold Hiendley and Wintersett

We are three worshipping congregations of the Church of England serving together in South and West Yorkshire.

Together we witness to Jesus Christ in worship and ministry in an area undergoing exciting regeneration and development. In the midst of change we believe in the constancy of Jesus Christ as a sure foundation and shepherd. We seek to witness to his presence in the sacramental life of the Church, and in the love and service of others. We are parishes of the Society of St Wilfrid & St Hilda; Anglican Christians worshipping in the beauty of the Catholic heritage and teaching as the Church of England has received it.

COMFORT - Alongside those in need

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23.4

God loved the world so much that he showed the ultimate compassion, coming to be among us and alongside us in Jesus. Whether you have lost a loved one, journeying with illness or seeking relief from life’s burdens, the Church wants to help all in need of comfort.

NURTURE - Open to new beginnings

“From childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 3.15

The Church is the community that springs from the new life Jesus brings. Because of this, nurturing and providing opportunities to celebrate new life is central in the life of the Church. Whether you are getting married, welcoming a new child or simply wanting to make a fresh start, the Church wants to support you.

COMMUNITY - Being Together

“So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” Romans 12.5

The Church holds a mirror up to the world and challenges people to see something more to life; to look ultimately at ourselves and one another and to see the people God made us to  live, work and worship together to build a better world. Christians live in the hope that we will be together with Jesus. Being together is something we celebrate and enjoy. No matter who you are, the Church wants to be with you.

SAFEGUARDING

Our parishes are committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Leeds’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advises our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.

You can view all our policies on the following link.
